Worked example
orbitforge fleet list2 snapshots:
8d063f302793 2026-01-01T00:00:00Z demo-fleet: initial design baseline
564f2234b82b 2026-02-01T00:00:00Z demo-fleet: phasing corrected after drift
parent <- 8d063f302793Reading the output
| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
8d063f302793 | Content-addressed snapshot identifier |
2026-01-01T00:00:00Z | The --created timestamp supplied at save time |
demo-fleet | Fleet name from the state document |
| Text after the colon | The --note |
parent <- ... | This snapshot supersedes that one |
Ordering is by creation timestamp, not by save order. A snapshot saved later with
an earlier --created value sorts earlier, because the timestamp describes when
the state was adopted rather than when it was recorded.
A snapshot with no parent line is a root: either the first state recorded, or a
state adopted without reference to what preceded it. Multiple roots in one store
usually mean the parent link was forgotten rather than that the history genuinely
branched.
Identifier prefixes
The listing prints the full identifier, but commands accept any unambiguous
prefix. 8d06 is enough to select 8d063f302793 in a store where nothing else
begins with those characters, which is convenient when reading identifiers off a
terminal.
